Sub-Zero Freezer Co. Rings In 2006 With Prestigious Accolades - Founder and refrigeration products receive honors from top industry publications
Madison, Wis. (Jan. 29, 2006) – Sub-Zero Freezer Co., the leading manufacturer of residential refrigeration and wine storage, celebrates the new year with accolades from leading industry publications: Kitchen and Bath Business and the Robb Report Collection.
In recognition of the vision and dedication to quality craftsmanship of Sub-Zero’s founder, Westye F. Bakke, December’s issue of Kitchen and Bath Business, the official magazine of K/BIS, named him one of the “Top 50 Kitchen and Bath Industry Icons” saying, “…Sub-Zero products are the high-tech must haves of any contemporary luxury kitchen.”
Bakke began his refrigeration business in the basement of his Madison, Wis., home in 1945. Throughout the next six decades, Sub-Zero grew from a small basement refrigeration business to the industry leader in refrigeration and wine storage based on Bakke’s high standards in terms of design, innovation and quality.
The Robb Report Collection is also singing the praises of Sub-Zero on their list of the “Top 10 Products that Have Changed the Way We Cook” in the January issue titled, “Home All-Stars – Products and Design that Define an Era.” The magazine recognizes Sub-Zero as the built-in refrigeration pioneer and notes the Sub-Zero’s importance to designers specializing in the “total kitchen concept” stating, “…the Sub-Zero - whether customized with wood or laminate to match the cabinets, or outfitted with stainless steel panels – became the de rigueur fridge for upscale kitchens.”
“2005 was a phenomenal year for Sub-Zero and Wolf and we plan for an even better year in 2006,” said Jim Bakke, current Sub-Zero and Wolf president and grandson of the founder. “These awards speak to our continued success and I am proud to further the vision of my grandfather and keep his commitment to innovation and quality handcraftsmanship well into the 21st century.”
