Madison, WI (February 8, 2002) — Sub-Zero Freezer Company, the leading
manufacturer of residential refrigeration and wine storage units, unveiled its
new Model 424FS, a freestanding wine storage unit fully wrapped in the Stainless
Steel exterior. Consumers now have the luxury of temperature-appropriate wine,
stored within an arm’s reach in any room of the house without the worry of
building the unit into cabinetry.
"For those who love wine, the freestanding unit offers flexibility for
entertaining," said Jim Bakke, president and chief executive officer for
Sub-Zero and Wolf. "We are committed to giving our consumers what they want out
of kitchen appliances—including an innovative unit that can properly store wine
wherever they choose to enjoy it."
Scheduled to hit retail showrooms during
second quarter 2002, the Model 424FS will feature five shelves and a 46-bottle
capacity. The top surface of the unit can be customized to match the look of the
kitchen, or the unit looks beautiful without any decorative paneling. It
includes the Stainless Steel finish and a digital readout that indicates the set
temperature from 38 to 65 degrees Fahrenheit. Sub-Zero wine storage units have
two separate temperature zones to best suit the stored wine. Electronic touch
pad controls make it easy to set controls. A near-ideal humidity of 60 degrees
prevents corks from drying out, and the UV-resistant glass door allows the user
to show off prized wine collections.
Rustproof metal shelves can accommodate half bottles, bottles and magnums.
Discreet lighting is independent of the door opening. The doors also feature
ultraviolet-resistant glass, preventing wine spoilage. A compressor and cooling
system operates quietly and smoothly to prevent vibrations that can be
detrimental to wines. Optional locks are available, as well as the option to tie
the unit into the home's security system for added protection.
