MADISON, Wis. (April 30, 2009) – Jerry Kelly’s 1-stroke victory in the PGA Zurich Classic in New Orleans on Sunday was greatly celebrated in his hometown of Madison…and at the offices of Sub-Zero and Wolf. The Madison-based manufacturer of high-quality built-in residential refrigeration, wine storage and cooking equipment has been a proud sponsor of Kelly’s PGA TOUR for two years.
“It was a thrilling tournament, and very exciting to watch when Jerry rallied with a pair of birdies on the back nine to take the lead,” said James Bakke, president and CEO of Sub-Zero and Wolf. “Jerry’s determination, drive and pursuit of his dreams embody everything that we stand for at Sub-Zero and Wolf. From all of us here, we congratulate Jerry on this well-deserve triumph.”
The former hockey player claimed the tight victory with a two and a half foot putt, topping the leaderboard with a 274 (-14). The win also moved Kelly to 17th in the standings, netting 500 FedExCup points. It was Kelly’s first PGA TOUR title since he won two in 2002 (the Sony Open and the Advil Western Open).
“I spend many days on the road, but I’ll always be proud to call Madison home, and I’m honored that Sub-Zero and Wolf supports me on the tour,” said Kelly. “Though Sub-Zero and Wolf have become the worldwide leader in home appliances, to me they’re still the hometown family-owned company I’ve known for years.”
Sub-Zero and Wolf are also proud sponsors of LPGA TOUR golfer Sherri Steinhauer, another Madison-native who has won eight tournaments on the tour.
