Jon’s culinary career started in the resort town of Sun Valley, Idaho, where he took his first restaurant job at the age of 14. He was hooked. After working in various restaurants into his early twenties and receiving a business degree from the University of Arizona, Jon attended Horst Mager Culinary Academy in Portland.
In 1990, Jon returned to Idaho to start his own restaurant in order to have the artistic freedom to truly explore his unique culinary style. Jon’s restaurant was created out of the culmination of these 25 years of experiences. Jon has written a "bible" for Idaho cuisine that showcases the foods of the intermountain west, using the techniques of the world. In addition to authoring The Idaho Table, Jon is a certified Executive Chef, host of the weekly radio show "Radio Café", and featured chef on KBCI Channel 2’s "Culinary Tip of the Day".
