Student Design Contest
Student Design Challenge
Let your imagination be your guide in designing a functional and beautiful space for a hypothetical family as described in the NKBA student design contest guidelines. You are limited to a 400 square foot space with a budget of $200,000 including appliances and construction. Please provide us with interesting details about the family and any unique situations or design challenges you encountered.
Eligibility
Entrants to the student design contest must be NKBA student members or enrolled as students at a college or university. Entries from graduating students will be accepted if completed and graded by their professor prior to graduation. Projects entered must be completed by an individual student. No co-designers are permitted. Students may enter the same project they submitted to a NKBA student design competition. Personal identification must not appear on any plans, narrative or photographs.
Prize Details
One national student winner will be awarded $5,000. Announcement and award of student winner prize will take place during regional celebrations in February 2013.
Online entry only. Contest entry runs from January 1, 2012, through October 31, 2012.

Student Project Entry Guidelines
Rendered kitchen must include at least one full-size Sub-Zero built-in or integrated refrigeration unit. Kitchen must also include at least one Wolf cooking appliance as primary food preparation equipment. This includes ranges, rangetops, ovens and cooktops. Ventilation, microwave ovens and warming drawers not included.
- Floor plan reflecting NKBA planning guidelines using NKBA graphics and presentation standards fully dimensioned in 1/2" scale.
- Wall elevations showing Sub-Zero and Wolf products using NKBA graphics and presentation standards fully dimensioned in 1/2" scale.
- Perspective views of the kitchen that best show the Sub-Zero and Wolf products (may be in color).
- Color renderings showing materials used in the design. Drawings must be clean, easy to understand and professionally presented.
- 500-word essay describing your hypothetical family and any unique situations or design challenges you faced.
