Dishes are Chipped or Broken

Topics:

  • After dishwasher completes cycle, dishes and glasses, etc. are broken or chipped
  • Dishwasher damages glass items

Cause:

  • Improper loading of dishwasher
  • Mishandling of baskets and racks

Troubleshooting:

  1. When loading the dishes, be sure they are securely in place and will not fall over or strike against each other during the wash.
  2. Load glasses between the tines, not straddling them.
  3. Move the baskets in and out slowly to avoid slamming dishes together.
  4. Make sure not to load dishes so high that the spray arms could strike them.
  5. Make sure that tall glasses and stemware will clear the top of the tub when you push the basket in.
  6. Always load delicate items in the top baskets.
  7. Do not overload the dishwasher.
  8. Do not jam the glasses together when loading.
