Cleaning Instructions

Unusual spills on the stainless may cause permanent stains.

To clean stainless steel and platinum:

  1. Use a lint-free or microfiber cloth and a stainless steel cleaner to remove any food stains. Refer to the Wolf Cleaning Guide and Sub-Zero Cleaning Guide for cleaning product suggestions.
  2. Apply a polish to maintain luster and protect the surface from future food stains.
  3. Always apply cleaner and polish in the same direction as the grain.
  4. Follow cleaner package instructions.
  5. For scratches or minor discolorations, see Stainless Steel Is Scratched.
  6. For removing adhesive, see Clean Adhesive from Stainless Steel.

To disinfect stainless steel, use 70% rubbing alcohol:

  1. Clean surface before disinfecting.
  2. Use 70% rubbing alcohol to dampen a clean microfiber cloth.
    • 70% rubbing alcohol is more cost effective and works more quickly than 91% rubbing alcohol.
    • Sub-Zero and Wolf does not recommend using bleach to disinfect appliance exteriors, as it can damage the stainless steel.
  3. Wipe following the direction of the grain, and let air dry.

Recommended Cleaners

Ammonia is safe for cleaning stainless steel.

  • After using ammonia, clean the surface with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly to prevent hazing.
  • There is no solution ratio for ammonia. If the solution is too strong (odor is present), dilute with water as needed.
  • For better results, keep the cloth in continuous contact with the stainless steel or platinum.

Signature Polish is a recommended cleaner and polish. See Purchase Signature Polish for more information.

  • Always shake Signature Polish before applying to stainless steel to prevent streaking.
  • When streaking occurs, clean the area with rubbing alcohol and start over with polishing.
  • Signature polish is available for purchase online. Refer to Purchase Signature Polish for more information.

Penny Brite® cleaning paste is recommended to remove burn marks, heat, or grease stains from stainless steel. Refer to Penny Brite for more information.

White vinegar and rubbing alcohol are safe for use to clean hard water stains.
