Answer:

Dual Fuel Ranges (DF), Sealed Burner Rangetops (SRT) and GR Series Gas Ranges have a metal bracket (shown below) underneath the French Top that holds the burner cap down; the bracket should not be removed.

If the bracket is removed or breaks off, unit performance will not be affected unless the burner cap or assembly is not positioned correctly.
