Sub-Zero Reveals New 700 Series

Madison, WI (4/2/2004)

Company's high-end refrigeration products offer integrated combo drawers, larger capacity

In response to consumer demand for increased integrated refrigeration options, Sub-Zero Freezer Company, the leading manufacturer of residential refrigeration and wine storage, announced the addition of two new products to expand its popular 700 Series. The 60-year-old company pioneered built-in refrigeration, and has led the industry with its innovative designs.

The new 700BC is a 27-inch wide refrigerator/freezer drawer combination unit, which complements the 27-inch wide all-refrigerator and all-freezer drawer units already available. The 736TC is a 36-inch wide full-size unit with an upper cabinet door refrigerator and two freezer drawers below.

"Consumers love our refrigerator and freezer drawers, but they were asking for an undercounter unit that combined both refrigeration and freezing," said Jim Bakke, president and chief executive officer for Sub-Zero and Wolf. "They were also asking for increased capacity, so we created a larger, full-size integrated unit."

The two-drawer models allow homeowners to place products beyond the main refrigerator at point-of-use-such as in a workout room, next to the home entertainment center, in the master bedroom or combined with a wine storage unit in a home bar.

The Model 700BC offers a 2.9 cubic foot refrigerator drawer and a 2.1 cubic foot lower freezer drawer, providing 5.0 cubic feet of storage capacity in all. The Model 736TC has 13.4 cubic feet of refrigerator storage and 6.9 cubic feet of freezer storage, for a total capacity of 20.3 cubic feet. Both products offer an optional ice maker in the freezer section and are equipped with the standard features of Sub-Zero's 700 Series, including the choice of three stainless steel finishes for panels. Sub-Zero's 700 Series established integrated refrigeration as a new trend. Beyond simple built-in refrigeration, integrated refrigeration complements the overall design integrity of a room. While built-in units are incorporated into a room design with a front face that my be stainless steel, a frame fitted with cabinet panels or a custom overlay of cabinetry and hardware, a fully integrated unit merges into the décor, blending seamlessly and fitting flush with the other cabinets and drawers throughout the kitchen.

The new units provide homeowners with exceptional food preservation through Sub-Zero's Dual refrigeration ® system. Electronic controls offer more accurate, precise temperature adjustment, maintaining the temperature to plus or minus one degree of the homeowner's choice. An adaptive defrost helps save energy by continuously conforming to usage patterns and climate needs. Built by hand with the Sub-Zero refrigeration system at its heart, both models meet stringent energy requirements.

The 700BC and 736TC are the newest products in the company's 700 Series offerings of integrated refrigeration. They follow the success of the 700BR (all-refrigerator base drawers), 700BF (all-freezer base drawers), 700TR (full-size refrigerator with lower refrigerator storage drawers), 700TF (full-size freezer with lower freezer storage drawers) and 700TC (full-size refrigerator with lower freezer drawers).
