2019-2021 KDC Finalist
Developing a vision for the redesign of this kitchen, Mikal Otten was charged with creating a space that doubled as a gourmet kitchen and family gathering place. Existing traffic patterns did not work, and required reconfiguring of exterior doors and windows. Opening up the kitchen to the family room and the outdoors provided more light and a sense of expansion.

The Wolf 48” Dual Fuel Range was the perfect focal point of the kitchen, and the visual weight of the PRO 48 refrigerator placed against the fireplace on the opposite wall provided the ideal juxtaposition. The mass of the stainless and glass was layered perfectly against the warm wood. Mikal is known for combining his client’s lifestyle and tastes with his ability to layer textures and add luxurious details. This redesign in soft transitional styling was designed with function as a priority.
