Westye Bakke built his first refrigerator for his young son, who needed insulin preserved securely and consistently at all times. From those hand-bent coils, the Bakkes founded Sub-Zero, a Wisconsin-based, family-owned and -operated company committed to food preservation to this day – along with precision cooking and dishwashing.
