27-Inch All Refrigerator and 27-Inch All Freezer Units Provide More Versatility and Design Options
MADISON, Wis. (January 1, 2010) – The art of kitchen design and integrated refrigeration has reached a new height with Sub-Zero’s 27-inch columns, the company’s latest product introduction in the advancement of kitchen design.
Sub-Zero, the industry leader in premium refrigeration, has added 27-inch all refrigerator
and 27-inch all freezer column models to its integrated line. While columns are a new
execution in Sub-Zero design options, they represent a continuation of the company’s
trendsetting offering of products that are design sensitive and responsive to consumers’
wishes for new concepts.
“As a company whose foundation was built on flexibility of design, there are no limits to
Sub-Zero’s design capabilities,” said Paul Leuthe, public relations and marketing manager
for Sub-Zero. “The addition of columns to our integrated refrigeration line is yet another
way to break out of the work triangle, the predictable kitchen layout, bringing a truly fresh
approach to kitchen design.”
When Sub-Zero first introduced the concept of point-of-use refrigeration in 1995, it took
kitchen design to new areas in the home. With no visible hinges or grilles, these
“anywhere” refrigeration units merge seamlessly with surrounding cabinetry and virtually
disappear into the décor, enabling the incorporation of aesthetically pleasing refrigeration
products that fit any lifestyle.
Developed with and for the design community, Sub-Zero’s limitless design options offer
more versatility than any other refrigeration manufacturer in the market. Sub-Zero prides
itself on its work with designers throughout the product development cycle to understand
and meet consumers’ needs.
Sub-Zero’s meticulous attention to the science of food preservation can be found in
precise mechanics, such as the digital controls employed by microprocessors that keep
the temperature within 1° of the selected setting. The advanced, low profile hinges have
been reliability-tested to endure decades of use, and they are designed to permit greater
cabinet customization, allowing for tighter reveals. Also through Sub-Zero’s passionate
attention to detail, doors have heavy insulation and a magnetic door seal, preventing air
leaks and reducing energy consumption. Sub-Zero products use energy highly efficiently;
the new column models and many other Sub-Zero units currently earn the ENERGY
STAR® qualified rating by meeting the strict guidelines of the EPA and the U.S.
Department of Energy.
Sub-Zero has also recently introduced a new built-in line of refrigeration. Beneath the
refined exterior of these units, the latest advanced technologies take food preservation to a
microscopic level. In addition, Sub-Zero engineers moved the evaporator lower
in the body of the new built-in, to more efficiently channel cold air to the storage drawers to
create a special high humidity, low temperature zone perfect for fruits, vegetables, and
meats.
Sub-Zero pioneered dual refrigeration, a technology that preserves food’s freshness
longer. Other refrigerator brands have only a single compressor for both refrigerator and
freezer, but each Sub-Zero compartment has a dedicated compressor and evaporator to
ensure that no air, moisture or food aroma passes between them. This innovation enables
food to stay wholesome, protecting its flavor, texture, and freshness.
A third-generation, family-owned company, Sub-Zero appliances are constructed by hand
in the USA using premium-grade materials and are built to last.
