MADISON, Wis. (February 15, 2010) – Sub-Zero, Inc. and Wolf Appliance, Inc. have announced that voting is now
open for the Designers' Choice Award, a special award honor within the Kitchen Design Contest
that will be selected by the design community.
The Sub-Zero and Wolf Kitchen Design Contest includes the Designers' Choice Award category
to give regional and international winners an opportunity to be recognized by their peer group.
The Designers' Choice Award cash prize is $15,000 up from $5,000 previously.
"The Designers' Choice Award is unique in that the designer community actually become the
Kitchen Design Contest judges and vote on their favorite kitchen design," said Paul Leuthe,
corporate marketing manager for Sub-Zero and Wolf. "Sub-Zero and Wolf's limitless design
options give designers the ability to be innovative and break out of the work triangle, the
predictable kitchen layout. This award is a testament to the appreciation of the art of kitchen
design by the top of the trade."
As of February 17th, designers have been able to go to subzero.com/designerschoice and
review all 50 of the eligible regional and international winners selected from nearly 1,400
entrants in the contest. The designers, as judges, can review the "finalists" and vote for their
favorites. Totals will be tallied Thursday, March 25, and the winner announced that night at the
Gala Celebration at The Breakers in Palm Beach, FL where all the regional winners are
recognized and the national winners also announced and honored.
In addition to the Designers' Choice Award, other categories in the contest are Best Use of Sub-
Zero and Wolf in the Kitchen, Best Use of Integrated, Wine Storage, and/or Wolf Equipment
Outside the Kitchen, International Awards, Student Award - and new for this year - Sustainable
"Green" Kitchen Using Sub-Zero and Wolf. Each of these awards is selected by a panel of
judges who are distinguished professionals in the kitchen design arena.
The Kitchen Design Contest honors the world's leading designers who have helped make Sub-
Zero and Wolf the quintessential components of the uncompromised kitchen. The most
respected contest within the design industry, the Sub-Zero and Wolf Kitchen Design Contest
occurs biennially. This is the ninth kitchen design contest for Sub-Zero and Wolf; the first
contest was announced in 1993.
