Answer:

If you're going on vacation, you can prepare the dishwasher by doing the following:

  1. Pour one cup of water in the drain.
    • This will prevent the filter drain well from drying out, which would prevent odor back up from the drain tube.
  2. Leave the door open slightly.

If the home is vacant for more than 3 months, repeat the above steps if possible every three months.

  • Dishwasher can be turned off at the circuit breaker or unplugged to save on energy use if desired.
