Sub-Zero & Wolf Product Storage

Topics:

  • Should Sub-Zero & Wolf products be stored in a climate controlled storage?
  • Long-term storage recommendations for Sub-Zero or Wolf units.
  • Can Sub-Zero or Wolf products be stored in a unheated storage shed?

Answer:

Sub-Zero & Wolf products can be stored in climate controlled or cold storage.

  • Climate controlled storage usually provides better protection against elements and rodents.
  • It is not suggested to store them in very hot (over 90°F) or very cold (below 32°F) conditions.
  • Cold temperatures can damage mechanical components.
    • Coolant under pressure is not designed to sustain cold temperatures for an extended period.
      • Coolant does not freeze, it is a gas under pressure.
  • Extremely high temperatures could create mold growth and cause components to melt.
  • Products should not be stored where direct contact with the elements is possible.
  • If a product is crated it can be stored in a covered location.
  • Upright storage is always preferred but units can be stored on the side or back.
  • Products should not be stored upside down.
  • It is recommended that Sub-Zero products be installed at least 24 hours before turning on after removal from long-term storage.
  • Allow 24 hours for temperatures to properly adjust and icemaker operation after turning a unit on.
