Saturated Refrigerator or Freezer Insulation

Topics:

  • Frost or condensation on outside of unit on side walls or back of unit when removed from installation
  • Moisture dripping from bottom side of unit
  • Insulation is saturated with water

Troubleshooting:

Saturated insulation indicators include:

  • Face frame of the unit is corroded to the point the metal is weak or bulging out.
  • Removal of one or more screws from the bottom of cabinet, and moisture drips from the hole.
  • Condensation forming in patches on the exterior of the unit and dripping.
  • A side crisper slide is removed, and water drips out of the hole.
  • Ice, frost, or condensation on the back of the unit or side walls visible when unit removed from opening
