Replace Gas Cooktop With Electric or Induction Cooktop

Topics:

  • Replace a Gas Cooktop with an Electric Cooktop
  • Installation considerations when replacing a Gas Cooktop with an Induction Cooktop
  • Will an Electric or Induction Cooktop fit in the same opening as a Gas Cooktop?

Answer:

Depending on the installation and size of the Gas Cooktop, the same rough opening may be the same or similar to allow for the installation of an Electric or Induction Cooktop.

  • Unframed or Contemporary Electric or Induction Cooktops that are installed flush may require a new opening.
  • The Gas Cooktop is taller than an Electric or Induction Cooktop. Installation opening may need to be modified
  • The gas line will need to be capped, and may need to be removed.
  • Gas Cooktops come with a power cord.  Electric or Induction Cooktops do not include a cord. The unit needs to be hardwired or a customer supplied cord will be needed.
  • Electrical supply is not the same. Changes may be necessary.
  • Verify installation specifications and dimensions.
