500 and 600 Series Face Frame Rust or Paint Peeling

Topics:

  • Gasket seat or face frame has rust around the door
  • Paint peeling from the face frame or mullion

Cause:

  • Food spills left to sit on the gasket seat can eat away at the paint finish over time
  • A crack in a door gasket can also compromise the quality of the paint finish on the gasket seat if not corrected soon after the crack occurs
  • If a condenser is not cleaned regularly, the painted gasket seat can overheat when the unit runs. This may lead to bubbling or cracking of the paint finish

Troubleshooting:

  1. Clean up the area and remove any rust with a fine grade steel wool.
  2. For very small areas, other than the face frame, use touch-up paint. See Sub-Zero Paint.
  3. If this does not repair the area, it may require a local electrostatic paint refinisher to paint the surface.

Answer:

If these steps do not resolve the issue, no further troubleshooting advice is available. Contact Factory Certified Service to schedule an appointment for repair.
