Wolf Induction Cooktop Power Boost Feature

Topics:

  • When using the power boost feature on an Induction Cooktop, is power reduced on the other elements?
  • Is power drawn from other elements when using the power boost on an Induction Cooktop?
  • How does the Induction Cooktop boost feature work?

Answer:

The Boost feature helps water boil faster and creates a hotter surface for faster searing of meats.

  • Power is drawn from other elements when using the Boost feature on an Induction Cooktop.
  • It may be possible to notice a slight dimming or pulsating of the element's power being drawn from. This is normal operation.

For a demonstration of how to use an Induction Cooktop, refer to the video below. The boost feature is described at the 1:07 mark.

Induction Cooktops

Boost mode boosts power on ONE element by diverting power from an adjacent element.

  • If the adjacent element is on High, the power output will be reduced.
  • The reduction in power will appear on the power level indicator of the adjacent element.
  • Adjacent burner does not need to have a pan on it.
  • Boost will turn off after 10 minutes of continuous operation and can be reactivated if desired.

CI Induction Cooktops

The Boost symbol will illuminate when an element is in Boost mode.

  • Boost mode will turn off automatically after 15 minutes of continuous operation and can be reactivated if desired.
  • Boost feature only applies to the back elements. Front elements do not have the Boost feature for CI Induction Cooktops.
  • Elements in an active bridge cannot use the Boost feature. Turn off the bridge in order to turn on Boost mode.

IR Induction Ranges

Boost mode boosts power on ONE element by diverting power from an adjacent element. The  symbol illuminates when an element is in boost mode.

  • If the adjacent element is on High, the power output will be reduced.
  • The reduction in power will appear on the power level indicator of the adjacent element.
  • Boost will turn off after 15 minutes of continuous operation and can be reactivated if desired.

Additional Information for All Cooktops

  • If the Boost feature is reactivated and the internal temperature of the cooktop gets too hot, the cooktop will automatically adjust the power level down to high or shut itself off completely.
    • If the cooktop gets too hot, the Boost feature may not reactivate until the unit has cooled sufficiently. Refer to Power Cycling on Induction Cooktop for more information.
    • The amount of time for this to occur varies based on the ventilation below the cooktop and what zones and power levels are active.
  • Boost feature does not apply to the smaller elements:
    • CT Induction models: 1200 W elements
    • CI and IR Induction models: 1400 W elements
    • Power will still be drawn from them to boost adjacent elements.
    • Refer to Induction Cooktop Burner Watts for information about which burners can be boosted.
  • If the boost feature is turning itself off before the time limit, and the feature has not been reactivated, contact Factory Certified Service to schedule an appointment for repair.
