Steps to Verify Issue:

Note: These steps are for stainless steel wrapped door units only (/S in model number).

This does not apply to custom panels, such as wood, or stainless steel flush inset panels for Overlay units (/O in model number), and Designer series units. For these models refer to:

Handle Set Screw Location

  • Note that not all Pro handles have a set screw. Refer to Sub-Zero Pro Handle for more information.

Handle Only Is Loose

  1. Tighten the set screw on the bottom of the handle standoff with a 3/32" Allen wrench. Refer to the images above.
  2. A small amount of blue thread locking Loctite may prevent the set screw from loosening in the future.
  3. Be careful not to over-tighten the set screw, as the thread is very fine.
  4. If the set screw is tight, and the handle still rattles, see "Standoff and Handle Are Loose" below.

Standoff and Handle Are Loose

  1. Remove the handle by removing the set screws from the underside of both handle standoffs. Refer to the images above.
  2. Once the handle and standoffs are removed from the door, tighten the standoff mounting stud with a flat-head screwdriver.
    • A small amount of blue Loctite may also prevent the mounting stud from loosening in the future.
  3. Tighten the T20 Torx screws on the back side of the standoffs that hold the handle to the standoff.
  4. Place the handle back onto the standoff mounting studs.
  5. Tighten the set screws on the bottom of the handle standoffs with a 3/32" Allen wrench.
    • A small amount of blue Loctite may prevent the set screw from loosening in the future.
    • Replacement set screw is part number 9015441.
    • The set screw for both tubular and pro handles is a #10-32x1/4 SS, cone-3/32" drive.
  6. Be careful not to over-tighten the set screw, as the thread is very fine.

Designer (Formerly Integrated) Units with Stainless Steel Panels

  • Designer units with stainless steel panels will need to have the panel removed to tighten the handle.

UC-24BG, UW-24, and 424 Models

  1. To tighten the screws on a UC-24BG, UW-24, and 424 handle, the door gasket must be peeled back to reveal the screws that secure the door handle. The panel does not need to be removed.
  2. Tighten the screws as needed.
