Turn Alarm On or Off

To turn the door ajar alarm on or off on Classic products, press the Alarm button  on the control panel.

Bell Icon

  • When the door ajar alarm is on, the bell icon appears on the display panel indicating it is working.
  • When the door ajar alarm is on and the door is left ajar, the alarm icon flashes.
  • When the door ajar alarm is off, the bell icon does not appear in the display panel.

Door Alarm Information

The alarm monitors both the refrigerator and freezer door(s) and drawer(s).

Duration, Volume, Pitch - CL Models

  • The door ajar alarm can be set to sound between 5 and 90 seconds after the door is opened.
    • Touch the Settings (gear) icon on the home screen.
    • Tap the right arrow to scroll to the Alarm Icon (bell).
    • Tap the Alarm icon to access the Alarm Settings Screen.
    • Tap the Alarm Icon to cycle the door alarm between on and off.
    • Tap Alarm Delay to set the door alarm delay between 5 seconds and 90 seconds, in 5 second increments.
  • The alarm sounds until the door is closed, or the alarm is snoozed or disabled from the control panel.
    • Tap Snooze to disable the door alarm until the door is closed.
    • Tap Disable and the Disable Alarm screen appears.
    • Tap No, and the Snooze or Disable Alarm screen appears.
    • Tap Yes and the door alarm is turned off until manually turned back on.
  • Classic Series door alarm tone and volume are adjustable.
    • Tap the Settings (gear) icon on the home screen.
    • Tap the right arrow to scroll to the Sound (speaker) icon.
    • Tap the Sound icon. The Volume and Tone Adjustment screen appears.
    • Tap Volume to turn the sound to HI, MED, or LO.
    • Tap Tone to change the sound tone to HI, MED, or LO.

Duration, Volume, Pitch - BI Models

  • The door ajar alarm sounds after 30 to 60 seconds of the door opening (time varies by product).
  • The alarm sounds until the door is closed, or the alarm is turned off on the control panel. Press the Alarm key to turn the alarm off.
  • The amount of time before the alarm sounds and the door ajar alarm volume are not adjustable.

Door Ajar Alarm Troubleshooting

Beeping With Door Closed

For troubleshooting information for beeping with the door closed, refer to:

Door Ajar Icon on But Chime Does Not Sound

  1. If the door ajar alarm icon is on but the chime does not sound, or if the chime has become hard to hear, reset the breaker for 10 seconds.
  2. If the alarm works for only one side, refrigerator or freezer, the alarm is sensing the door switch. If the door is slightly open but the switch is not sensed as open, the alarm may not work.
  3. Opening the door fully and see if alarm turns on after one minute.
  4. If the door ajar icon still appears after the steps above are complete, no further troubleshooting advice is available. Contact Factory Certified Service to schedule an appointment for repair.
