Countertop Oven Displays Incorrect Temperature

Topics:

  • Why does the display show 400 F in probe mode, when it was set to a higher temperature?
  • Why is the displayed temperature not the same as the temperature that was selected?
  • When cooking in probe mode, why is the displayed temperature lower than what was set?
  • Why is the WGCO100S countertop oven temperature low?

Steps to Verify Issue:

Situation A:

1. Bake or Roast mode; set the oven temperature to 450F, let oven preheat.

2. After the actual temperature is above 400F, plug the probe in. The displayed temperature may change from 450F to 400F but the oven will continue preheating to 450F.

3. When actual temperature reaches 450F, the unit will beep and preheat stops, but the display may show 400F instead of 450F. A manual temperature reading will show the unit is at the original setting of 450F.

Situation B:
1. Set temp to 450F, preheat. After preheat is complete, oven display shows 450F.
2. When probe is plugged in, the display may change to 400F, but measurement shows that actual temp is 450F, same as the original setting.

Answer:

When cooking in probe mode with a set temperature higher than 400 F, the display on the counter top oven WGCO100S may read 400 F instead of the higher temperature that was set.  It will still heat to the temperature set by the consumer, but the display may not read the correct set temperature.

If this problem is noticed, the displayed temperature can be manually changed to show the original set temperature.  After it is manually changed, the display should read the correct set temperature.
