Sub-Zero, Wolf, and Cove Announce 2019-2020 Kitchen Design Contest

Madison, WI (4/15/2020)

Biennial Contest Recognizes Excellence in Kitchen Design, Introduces Grander Prizes and New “Emerging Professional” and “Best Use Outside the Kitchen” Categories

Sub-Zero, Wolf, and Cove , the industry leaders in premium refrigeration, cooking, and dishwashing, announce the return of the Kitchen Design Contest, recognizing premier design professionals across the globe for their stunning, innovative kitchen designs.

“Great design deserves to be recognized and that’s what the Kitchen Design Contest was created to do,” said Jim Bakke, president and CEO of Sub-Zero Group, Inc. This contest is our way of honoring the design community and the significant role they have played in making Sub-Zero, Wolf, and Cove a household name for 75 years. It’s important to us to push the boundaries of kitchen design, and we are proud to provide a platform to showcase and applaud the amazing creators in our industry doing the same.”

For previous winners, the Kitchen Design Contest has served as a platform for building their networks and growing their businesses:

  • “The stamp of approval is priceless. To receive recognition from the caliber of judges, knowing the stiffness of competition you were up against, really changes your mindset. This award gives confidence to design on a high level and will bolster the firm’s confidence moving forward.” – Donald Lococo of Donald Lococo Architects (Washington, D.C.), First Place Transitional Kitchen Winner, 2017-2018 Kitchen Design Contest
  • “To be recognized and to be a part of a global competition with such a premium product is something that is really fantastic, not only for yourself, your team, your staff, but also your clients.” – Miriam Fanning of Mim Design (South Yarra, Australia), First Place Contemporary Kitchen Winner, 2017-2018 Kitchen Design Contest

Contest entries are evaluated by a panel of esteemed judges. Each judge is a leader in the industry, from disciplines including architecture, interior design and kitchen design. All demonstrate passion for good design and dedication to the design community, and all are previous Kitchen Design Contest winners.

The judges will review each design and hand-select the top entries from around the world after the entry period closes in January 2021. Twenty-nine finalists and one student winner will be announced and will receive a cash prize in spring 2021. Additionally, all thirty will win a trip for two to attend the Winners’ Summit & Gala in fall 2021, where the global contest winners will be announced, and the most combined prize dollars in the contest’s history will be awarded. The exclusive Summit & Gala location will be revealed later this fall.

Sub-Zero, Wolf, and Cove will award additional cash prizes to first-, second- and third-place winners in each of the Contemporary, Transitional and Traditional design categories. Cash prizes will also be awarded to one winner in each of the following categories: First-Time Entrant, Small Space Kitchen, and the newly introduced Best Use Outside of Kitchen and Emerging Professional.
