Defrost Timer Timing Difference

Topics:

  • Why is the time on a replacement defrost timer different from the original defrost timer?
  • Can you adjust the time on a defrost timer

Troubleshooting:

Make sure that the correct part number was ordered. Contact a Factory Certified Parts Distributor to order parts.

Answer:

Defrost timers have been redesigned throughout the years as product efficiency has improved and parts have been consolidated.

  • For example, an older 12-hour, 15-minute timer may be replaced by a newer 6-hour, 21-minute timer.
  • Sub-Zero does not recommend adjusting a mechanical defrost timer to change the duration of the defrost cycles.
