Dishwasher Float Operation
Topics:
- Dishwasher pump running all the time
- How to reset the float switch in a dishwasher
Answer:
A dishwasher float is activated when enough water accumulates causing it to floats in water.
- The float activates the drain pump to turn on and remove the excess water.
- Once the float sinks, or is no longer floating, it signals the drain pump to turn off.
- If the drain pump never turns off, a service technician is required to resolve the issue.
- Note: Do not unplug dishwasher if water is actively filling the unit. Shut off water prior to disconnecting power from the dishwasher to ensure the safety systems are not disconnected. These safety systems will protect the home from a leaking event.
