Wolf EC24 Coffee System Has Bad Coffee Taste or Lack of Crema

Topics:

  • Bad coffee taste and/or lack of crema
  • EC24 Coffee System makes poor tasting coffee
  • The head of the coffee from a Wolf Coffee System is not frothy
  • Coffee has bitter taste

Cause:

  • Poor quality coffee
  • Coffee grind is too fine
  • Coffee grind is too coarse
  • Change in coffee brand
  • Mill blades have become worn

Troubleshooting:

For brand new EC24 Coffee Systems:

  1. Coffee bean quality has a lot to do with the finished cup of coffee. Try a premium bean.
  2. Adjust coarseness to 7 while grinder is running.
  3. Make two or three cups of coffee and check grounds again.
  4. If grind is still too fine, do “Grinder Set-Up.”
  5. Adjust coarseness to 4 while grinder is running.
  6. Make two or three cups of coffee and check grounds again.
  7. If no variation, adjust coarseness to 1 while grinder is running.
  8. Check grounds again.
  9. If grind is still too coarse, do “Grinder Set-Up.”

For existing EC24 Coffee Systems:

  1. A change in coffee brand may require a change in the grind setting.
  2. Adjust coarseness to 4 while grinder is running.
  3. Make two or three cups of coffee and check grounds again. If no variation, adjust coarseness to 1 while grinder is running.
  4. Check grounds again.

Answer:

Coffee taste is affected by the quality of the bean and the coarseness of the grind. If the taste is disagreeable:

  • Try a different bean.
  • Change the coarseness of the grind. Bitter taste can be caused by too fine a grind.
