Answer:

If an Induction Cooktop is showing “Shr,” sometimes mistaken for “5hr,” the unit is in Showroom Mode.

Showroom Mode disables the heating elements while still allowing the controls to work.

  • If a power loss occurs, the unit starts in normal operational mode.
  • The unit connects directly to 120 V connection, so a kit is not needed.
  • Instructions differ depending on unit serial number. See also, Wolf Serial Tag Locations.

This mode turns off the induction coils while still giving the user complete functionality of the controls at either 120 V or 240 V power.

Enter Showroom Mode

  1. From LOCK MODE, press and hold the “MELT” key for the front element for 5 seconds. The controls will enter Showroom Mode.
  2. The controls will light all LEDs for 5 seconds to let the user know that Showroom Mode has been entered.
    • During Showroom Mode, “Shr” will be continually shown in the timer display unless any of the following keys are pressed: CLEAR, +, or -. Once there are no key presses for 5 minutes, the “Shr” will return.

Exit Showroom Mode

  1. From LOCK MODE, press and hold the front element “MELT” key for 5 seconds. The controls will exit the Showroom Mode.
  2. The controls will go through the startup sequence to indicate that the Showroom Mode has been exited.
    • An interruption of power will also exit the Showroom Mode. The unit will start up in LOCK mode when power is restored.
    • If any other touch pad sensor detects another input signal, the Showroom Mode will not disengage.

If the “MELT” key is not released after 7 seconds, the Showroom Mode will not be canceled. The unit will return to Lock mode in the Showroom Mode.

Showroom Mode Starting with Serial Number 17,600,000

Enter Showroom Mode

  1. From LOCK mode, press “Off” key for 5 seconds to enter Diagnostics; a beep will sound.
  2. Press and hold the front element "MELT" key for 5 seconds while in Diagnostic Mode. The controls will enter Showroom Mode.
  3. The controls will light all LEDs for 5 seconds to let the user know that Showroom Mode has been entered.
  4. During Showroom Mode, “SHO” will be continually shown in the Timer Display unless the CLEAR, '‘+” or “-” keys are pressed.
  5. If there are no keys pressed for 5 minutes, “SHO” will return.

Exit Showroom Mode

  1. Enter LOCK MODE first by pressing and holding the “Key” symbol for three seconds.
  2. Press “Off” key for 5 seconds to enter Diagnostics; a beep will sound.
  3. Press and hold the "Melt" key for 5 seconds
    • NOTE: Holding the Melt key for more than 7 seconds will cancel Diagnostic Mode but not Showroom Mode.
  4. The unit will go through a startup sequence and enter Lock Mode.
  5. Press the “Key” symbol for 3 seconds to unlock the unit.
  6. The unit is now functional.
  7. To verify, use an induction-approved pot or pan with water in it to test.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, reset the unit at the circuit breaker to reset. If the unit will not enter or exit Showroom Mode, contact Factory Certified Service to schedule an appointment for repair.
